Signs You Need a New Air Handler Installation
Before summer arrives, it’s crucial to ensure your home is ready for the heat and that your HVAC unit is in tip-top shape. If your AC is an older unit, or if it’s not been regularly maintained, consider replacing it.
Also, consider putting in a new air handler if you experience any of the following problems:
- Low Airflow: A reduction in the airflow coming out of the system is a good indication there’s a leak in the ducts or possibly an electrical issue.
- Odd Noises: When you hear your system making unusual noises like grinding or squealing, it could be an issue with the bearings, which wear down over time.
- Condensate Leaks: Another common problem people experience with the air handler is condensate pan leaks. Algae and other debris build up in the lines causing the drain line to clog, which leads to the pan overflowing.
For minor problems, air handler repair solves the issue and returns your system to full functionality. However, for old units, or when the cost of the repair is half or more than half the cost of repair, it’s time to consider replacing the unit.
